The controversy trailing Bola Tinubu’s preference of a governorship aspirant, Olusegun Abraham, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) guber candidate, has not ended yet.

A group known as the APC Muslim Council has called on concerned parties to let the best candidate govern the state.

The group also said it has not endorsed any candidate, adding that they will only support a candidate who will rule with equity and justice.

According to the co-ordinator of the group, Alhaji Takuro Amidu, “The APC Muslim Council comprising Ulamas, Chief Imams, Muslim leaders and all Muslim organisations in Ondo State has affirmed that its support will only be given to a credible, God-fearing person with demonstrable antecedents.

“We will only support an aspirant who would rule with equity and justice as stated by the Holy Quran. We will only endorse an aspirant who has practical antecedents of developing his or her people and community because community development is a highly rewarding act of worship in Islam.”

One of the governorship aspirants, Tunji Abayomi, had accused the APC national leader, Bola Tinubu of causing trouble in the party.

Rotimi Akeredolu said that there’s nothing wrong with a candidate receiving endorsements from party leaders.

The Presidency has also distanced itself from the Ondo APC tussle, saying President Muhammadu Buhari does not have a preferred candidate in the upcoming governorship elections in Ondo State.
